Mud Lake Wildfire Chars 580 Acres

A 580-acre wildfire at Mud Lake on the California-Nevada border was reduced Sunday to charred brush and a few smoke plumes.
The fire erupted Saturday afternoon southeast of Lake Tahoe near Woodfords in Alpine County.
About 140 firefighters battled the blaze. The cause was not immediately known.
