RV site could use a hookup

Share

The official website of the National Assn. of RV Parks & Campgrounds offers what purports to be an encyclopedic listing of U.S. campgrounds, but itchy-tire summer travelers will hit a bumpy cyber-road trying to find information on this site.

Many of the campground summaries include only bare-bones charts of hookups, slideouts, tent camping and cabins. Lacking photos, descriptions, reservation requirements and fee schedules, you’ll have to burn up the phone minutes to see if the campground complements your rig and your budget.

You’ll find some minimal travel tips, but if you’re looking for outdoor action, you’ll be frustrated by many broken links. Worse, a rusty navigation system forces you back to square one after each click. A better bet is to log on to your destination county to find the nitty-grit you’ll need.
