Supervisors Back Bills to Curb Eminent Domain
- Share via
The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to support legislation that would limit the use of eminent domain to condemn private property for business development.
The vote came after the supervisors heard from several state legislators, including Assemblyman Doug LaMalfa (R-Richvale), who has introduced ACA 22.
That bill would amend the state Constitution to blunt the effect of a Supreme Court ruling last month that held local governments can seize homes and small stores to make way for business development.
The supervisors also endorsed a state Senate version.
