Hackers Tap Into Cal State Student Data
Computer hackers got access to the names and Social Security numbers of three-quarters of the students at Cal State Dominguez Hills, officials said Friday.
School officials said there was no evidence that the hackers, who tapped into three desktop computers, took any information. But university officials were notifying all 9,613 students whose files were accessible, said Russell Hudson, spokesman for the campus, which has an enrollment of about 12,500.
The files contain information used to track students on campus.
A separate database containing transcripts and class schedules was not affected.
