Inglewood Police Involved in 2nd Fatal Shooting in 2 Days
Inglewood police shot and killed a person Monday evening, the second officer-involved fatal shooting in as many days.
Two uniformed officers were working a gang detail near Imperial Highway and Simms Avenue when they stopped a suspicious person and the shooting occurred, Lt. Mike McBride told Fox 11 News. “At this point we’re unsure what exactly precipitated the shooting,” McBride told the station late Monday night.
The identity of the victim was not released.
In a separate incident Sunday, police shot and killed a man after he pointed a gun at a group of officers in an alley, the department said.
That incident occurred in the 10200 block of Woodworth Avenue shortly before 4:30 a.m. when officers responded to a report of gunshots.
Police said that they were confronted by an armed man leaving an apartment complex and that one officer fired in self-defense.
