Sun One-Ups the Monarchs

The Connecticut Sun overcame an 11-point, second-half deficit to win a matchup of the WNBA’s top teams Friday night, dismissing the Sacramento Monarchs, 61-50, at Arco Arena.

The Eastern Conference-leading Sun (9-2) produced a 25-4 run to take a 55-45 lead with 4:04 left. DeMya Walker scored 12 of her game-high 16 points in the first half for Monarchs (8-3).

Washington 69, Detroit 55 -- Temeka Johnson scored 15 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones added 13 for the Mystics (6-6), who won for the third consecutive time and ended a three-game road losing streak. Detroit (5-5) lost for the fifth time in its last six games.

Indiana 57, Minnesota 55 -- The Fever (8-4) remained unbeaten at home as Tamika Catchings scored only two but reached 2,001 points in her career. Katie Smith, who had 17 points, missed a three-pointer at the buzzer for the Lynx (6-6).
