Man Gets Life for Killing Daughter in Day Care
A man was sentenced to life in prison for beating his 3-year-old daughter to death at her day-care center after shooting and critically wounding the center’s owner and her niece.
The Detroit judge also sentenced Bernard Kelly to 50 to 75 years for assault. He was convicted last month.
Prosecutors said Kelly, 37, posed as a potential client to enter the center, then shot the two women, who survived. He found his daughter, Stefanie, watching television in a back bedroom and used his gun to bludgeon her, prosecutors said.
