300 Attend Vigil for Badly Beaten Gay Man

About 300 people attended a candlelight vigil to show support for a gay man who was beaten unconscious a week ago outside a Santa Fe hotel.
James Maestas, 21, remained hospitalized but spoke for the first time since the beating. Witnesses told police the assailants repeatedly made hostile remarks to Maestas and a companion about their sexual orientation.
