Police Identify Cyclist Hit and Killed by Car
Officials Tuesday identified a bicyclist struck and killed by a car as Charles Richard Hughes, 79, of Huntington Beach.
He was hit Monday evening while crossing Atlanta Avenue east of Delaware Street. He was not in a crosswalk, said Lt. Craig Junginger of the Huntington Beach Police Department. Hughes died at the scene.
Driver Constance Springer, 59, of Huntington Beach was not held in connection with the accident, Junginger said. But she was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine and later released, he said.
