For a time, she lived on the other side of art

Patricia Faure has been a prominent gallerist for nearly 30 years, working first with late, legendary art dealers Nicholas Wilder and Betty Asher, then on her own. Now she is working with a younger generation since taking on partner Kim Light last fall. But in an earlier life, the now-septuagenarian doyenne of the L.A. art scene was a notable photographer. A portfolio of 24 prints taken from the mid-1950s to 1972 for such clients as Paris Vogue and the New York Times will go on view in a rare exhibition opening Saturday at Margo Leavin Gallery in West Hollywood. “Patricia Faure: Photographer,” running through April 2, features portraits of artists (Robert Irwin, Ken Price), writers (Irwin Shaw, William Styron), musicians (Bobby Short), models (Peggy Moffitt, Delores Greer) -- and a classic 1970 image of designer Rudi Gernreich’s Unisex clothing.
“Patricia Faure: Photographer,” Margo Leavin Gallery, 812 N. Robertson Blvd., West Hollywood. Opening reception, 4 p.m. Saturday. Ends April 2. (310) 273-0603.
