These Six Have Made a Habit of Winning

Share

The six horses entered in today’s eighth race at Aqueduct know about winning.

Dashboard Drummer, War’s Prospect, Spooky Mulder, Ironton, Albert E. and Well Fancied have combined to win 52 races in 164 starts and have earned $2,147,242.

A 7-year-old gelded son of Prosper Fager, Well Fancied has earned $828,176 while winning 12 of 30. He will be making his first start in nearly a year today for owners Stewart Hoffman and Sanford Goldfarb and trainer Rick Dutrow Jr. in the $54,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.

Last seen chasing Pico Central and others in the Grade I Carter Handicap last April, Well Fancied has won three of nine over the Aqueduct main track. Rafael Bejarano will ride the New York-bred, who will break from the outside post.

Spooky Mulder, a 7-year-old Brunswick gelding, has the most wins. He is 19 for 48, with two of his victories coming at Aqueduct.

Race of the day: Overnightsensation, who was the beaten favorite in her first race against winners Feb. 26, will try to make amends in today’s seventh at Santa Anita.

Rene Douglas, who has been battling a slump, will ride the 4-year-old Bertrando filly for Eurowest Bloodstock and trainer Wally Dollase in the $52,000 allowance for California bred fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles on the turf.

One for the road: Toscani looks too quick for his five opponents in today’s fourth at Gulfstream Park and should be long gone under jockey Roberto Alvarado Jr. The 5-year-old Chilito gelding enters on a four-race win streak for Acclaimed Racing Stable and trainer Scott Lake. A winner of six of 13, he will break from post two in the $23,000 starter allowance at six furlongs.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Forty Fivecalibur and Gold Format in the fifth, Trendy, California Power and American Writer in the sixth, Overnightsensation, Silent Kingdom and Apple Juice Tea in the seventh and Do Da Princess in the eighth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 5/163. Money: Previous day/meet total: $36.80/$878.80. Total money bet: $1,098.
