Reliving the rigors of snow camping

Regarding “Cold Warriors” [March 22] about the Sierra Club’s Wilderness Travel Course: I took the course about 10 years ago. The one enduring lesson I learned is that I do not like snow camping. The days are short, and the nights are long and cold.

One thing not mentioned in the article is the fate of photographer Al Seib. Did they give him a decent burial?

The article brought back one of the best times my husband I have had in our outdoors adventures. Years ago, the course was called the Basic Mountaineering Training Course, and it literally saved our lives.

We found ourselves climbing in Yosemite on granite with no obvious handholds or footholds when we remembered a maneuver taught in the class. We lived to tell the tale.
