MTV adds new movie awards

Academy Award winners Hilary Swank and Jamie Foxx got cited anew for their respective performances in “Million Dollar Baby” and “Ray” when the nominations for the 2005 MTV Movie Awards were announced Wednesday. But there were some fresh titles among the best-picture nominees: “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” “Napoleon Dynamite” and “Spider-Man 2,” along with “Ray” and “The Invincibles.”

Jimmy Fallon will host the awards show, which will be taped June 4 at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown L.A. for telecast June 9.

MTV Movie Awards -- A Quick Takes item in Thursday’s Calendar Weekend section about the best film nominees for the MTV Movie Awards referred to “The Incredibles” as “The Invincibles.”

In addition to its usual offbeat categories such as best kiss and best fight, the show will feature two new categories this year: the best frightened performance and the best video game based on a movie.
