Wonder makes fuss for sightless
Music video has been a meaningless medium for blind and visually impaired people, and Stevie Wonder has decided to do something about it. The musician, who has been blind virtually all his life, will release a video of his new song “So What the Fuss” that includes a descriptive audio track by rapper Busta Rhymes.
Wonder unveiled the innovation, along with a conventional version of the video, at a Los Angeles press conference on Monday, where he had the approximately 100 media members wear blindfolds for the playing of the version with the narrative.
That video -- in which Rhymes colorfully describes the apartment and neighborhood that is the setting for Wonder’s performance of the song -- will air on SAP-accessible television channels, and both versions will be premiered online at Yahoo! Music on Wednesday.
“So What the Fuss” is the first single from Wonder’s new album “A Time to Love,” which will be released June 14, Wonder said Monday.
