Man Killed in Noontime Accident on 405 Freeway

One man was killed and another seriously injured Tuesday in a multi-vehicle accident that paralyzed traffic along the northbound San Diego Freeway for more than six hours, authorities said.
The accident, which involved a tractor-trailer, occurred shortly after noon just north of Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood, the California Highway Patrol said. All but one lane was closed through the afternoon rush hour.
The incident remains under investigation. The names of the victims were not released.
