Brink Remains Starter
Washington State Coach Bill Doba is frustrated by his team’s five-game losing streak but said Tuesday he had no plans to change quarterbacks.
Alex Brink had only 64 yards passing in the Cougars’ fifth consecutive Pacific 10 Conference loss -- a 55-13 rout by USC on Saturday. But Doba said he wouldn’t pull the sophomore starter for junior backup Josh Swogger.
“I guess he had a couple passes that were overthrown, a couple that were short,” Doba said of Brink in the coach’s weekly teleconference from Pullman, Wash. “He didn’t play as well as he had been playing, I didn’t think. He’s a sophomore and [had] a few sophomore mistakes. But he’s still playing well enough.”
Brink’s 531 yards passing in a loss to Oregon State set a school record for a game.
