A loser of 14 of his first 15 starts, Gray Black N White has improved since joining the barn of trainer Julio Canani.

Claimed for $32,000 by Canani for a partnership on June 12, the gray son of Quiet American has won two of three for his new connections. He’ll try to keep the roll going when he takes on five opponents in today’s sixth at Hollywood Park. The race is part of a holiday card with an early post time of 11 a.m.

Beaten by less than a length when second in his first start for Canani, Gray Black N White has won his last two. He prevailed in a dead heat with Carano on the Santa Anita main track on Sept. 30, then moved to the turf on Oct. 26 and led throughout to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
