Spending Limit for Council Race Lifted

The $330,000 spending limit on the race for the City Council seat for District 14 has been lifted, so candidates can spend as much as they would like.
Two groups -- the California State Council of Service Employees and the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union -- have together spent $51,153 on independent materials in support of Jose Huizar.
The limit is lifted after independent expenditures for any one candidate tops $50,000.
