A man who authorities say barricaded himself and took his wife hostage inside their home Wednesday evening was arrested early Thursday.

A San Bernardino County sheriff’s SWAT team tossed “flash-bang” devices into the home of Oscar Marscial, 27, about 4:45 a.m., then arrested him on suspicion of felony hostage taking, San Bernardino Police Lt. Brian Boom said.

On Wednesday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol tried to stop Marscial for reckless driving on the 10 Freeway, authorities said. He sped away and fled from his car into his home in the 1300 block of Garner Avenue, holding a sawed-off shotgun, police said. Neighbors were evacuated during the 12-hour standoff.
