Spurs Bounce Past the Kings

Maybe the Sacramento Kings would’ve preferred being routed again over what the San Antonio Spurs did to them Tuesday.

Dominant early and resilient late, the Kings were forced into overtime by a three-point basket by Brent Barry that hit the rim twice, went high and fell through with four seconds left in regulation. Then Manu Ginobili carried the defending champions to a 128-119 victory in Game 2 of their first-round series at San Antonio for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven first-round Western Conference series.

With the Spurs down to their last chance and trailing, 109-106, Ginobili drove the lane and found Barry open in the right corner for his tying shot.

Mike Bibby, who was one for 13 through four quarters, opened overtime with two jumpers that left the Kings ahead, 113-112. But Ginobili was already starting to take over.

Ginobili followed by making his first three shots of overtime for a 117-114 lead halfway through the extra period, and Sacramento never got any closer.

Ginobili led the Spurs with 32 points and nine assists. Bonzi Wells had 28 points and 12 rebounds, and Abdur-Rahim had 27 points for the Kings.

Washington 89, Cleveland 84 -- Gilbert Arenas scored 30 points, Antawn Jamison had 21 and the Wizards slowed down LeBron James in tying their Eastern Conference series at 1-1 at Cleveland

Caron Butler scored 21 points and was Washington’s primary defender on James, who after recording a triple-double in his playoff debut, finished with 26 points on seven-for-25 shooting but matched his career high with 10 turnovers.

Drew Gooden scored 24 points on 11-for-12 shooting and had 16 rebounds for the Cavaliers, whose 12-game winning streak at home ended.

New Jersey 90, Indiana 75 -- Vince Carter rebounded from 12-for-33 shooting in Game 1 to score 33 points on 12-for-20 shooting to help the Nets even the Eastern Conference series at 1-1 at East Rutherford, N.J.

The Pacers’ Jermaine O’Neal and Stephen Jackson were whistled for two fouls each in the first quarter, and the Pacers could never find their offense on a night Peja Stojakovic was also sidelined by a sore right knee.

Anthony Johnson led Indiana with 17 points. O’Neal had 12, and Jackson finished with 10.
