From Times Wire Reports

Robert Johnson, a former member of the state Board of Regents and a former chief executive of Bowne & Co. as well as Newsday newspaper, pleaded guilty to charges that he possessed child pornography while at Bowne and destroyed computer records that were the subject of a federal investigation.

Johnson, 60, entered his plea in U.S. District Court in New York City.

Johnson, who became chief executive and publisher of Newsday in 1986, left the newspaper in 1994 to become chief executive of Bowne & Co., a printing company in New York City. He retired in May 2004, reportedly shortly after learning of the federal investigation.
