Norwegian Envoy Holds Talks With Rebels

A Norwegian peace envoy met with Tamil Tiger rebel leaders in their northern stronghold today in an effort to prevent Sri Lanka from sliding back into full-scale civil war.
Jon Hanssen-Bauer, who earlier held talks with government officials, was meeting with the rebels’ political head, S.P. Thamilselvan, in Kilinochchi, a rebel official said.
