Santino Quaranta scored his first goal of the season a day after being acquired by the Galaxy, and it held up for a 1-0 win over the host Houston Dynamo on Wednesday night at Reliant Stadium.
Quaranta, traded Tuesday from D.C. United to the Galaxy for a draft pick, lofted a left-footed shot from a steep angle into the left corner of the net from about 12 yards in the 69th minute.
It was the fourth win in a seven-game unbeaten streak for the Galaxy (6-10-5), which moved to within four points of Chivas USA in the West.
Houston (8-5-8) played without All-Star Dwayne De Rosario, who was suspended.
