Generation gap at the beach

I enjoyed your article “Flip-Flops, Meet Prada” [Aug. 3]. It is an amazing transformation for Manhattan Beach from years ago. I remember hanging out at Cisco’s, now Harry O’s, and at the Blue Book in El Porto, which was demolished.

I can’t wait to hit the Zinc Lounge in the Shade Hotel and see the celebrity wattage.

Your article omitted two of the oldest, most popular and best restaurants in town: Mangiamo and Talia’s. Ron Guidone, the owner and proprietor, has been offering great food and atmosphere in these restaurants for well over 25 years. How could you omit them?

The article wasn’t about Manhattan Beach but rather about Shade, Zinc Lounge and Rock’n’Fish. You gave a line

or two to one of the greatest

bars in town, Ercoles. It deserves much more. Ercoles, Shellbacks, Talia’s and Mangiamo are MB. Those other places are “Johnny come latelys” and don’t deserve the copy you gave them.
