When NASCAR’s Nextel Cup series returns for its second race of the year at California Speedway this weekend, the Fontana track will debut a $10-million upgrade and expansion of its fan amenities behind the track’s main grandstands. Formally named “Opportunity, California FanZone,” the expanded, 23.8-acre midway will include a retail store, concert stage and a restaurant, along with increased shade protection, giant video walls and expanded hospitality and grassy leisure areas.
