Mavericks’ win streak ends at 12

Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards ended the Dallas Mavericks’ 12-game winning streak, determined to begin a streak of their own.

“It feels great,” Arenas said after scoring 38 points with eight assists during the Wizards’ 106-97 victory on Monday night. “It shows what we’re capable of doing if we come out and play hard. But we have to get a streak of our own pretty soon.”

The Wizards built leads of 20 points in the first half and 31 in the third quarter.

Dirk Nowitzki had 27 points for Dallas, whose streak was the longest in the NBA this season.

Orlando 92, Sacramento 89 -- Jameer Nelson made a three-point basket with 1.7 seconds left to help the Magic end an 11-game losing streak at Sacramento.

Dwight Howard had 18 points and 16 rebounds for the Magic. Mike Bibby scored 19 for the Kings.

Chicago 100, Boston 82 -- The Bulls won their fifth in a row, taking control with a 13-0 run spanning the first and second quarters and leading by as many as 30 points at Chicago.

Andres Nocioni scored 20 points for Chicago. Paul Pierce scored a season-low eight points for Boston.

Utah 101, Milwaukee 88 -- The Jazz led by as many as 28 points at Salt Lake City en route to earning Coach Jerry Sloan his 999th win.

Carlos Boozer had 30 points and 13 rebounds for Utah, which shot 73% in the third quarter. Michael Redd, who scored 57 points against the Jazz on Nov. 11, had 18 this time, with only two of them coming after halftime.

New York 98, Memphis 90 -- The Knicks shot 56.3% and never trailed, ending a four-game losing streak and improving to 2-7 at Madison Square Garden.

Eddy Curry had 26 points and 15 rebounds for the Knicks. Hakim Warrick had 19 points for the Grizzlies.

San Antonio 129, Golden State 89 -- The Spurs took a 20-point first-quarter lead and were never threatened at San Antonio.

Brent Barry scored 18 points off the bench for the Spurs, whose reserves accounted for 75 of their points.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Eddie Griffin pleaded guilty in Minneapolis to inattentive driving in a March traffic accident. Griffin, 24, paid a fine and court fees.
