Package prompts evacuation at newspaper
From Times Staff Writers
Workers at the Orange County Register and residents across the street were evacuated early Saturday after employees found a suspicious package, police said.
The parcel, wrapped in a jacket with a cord hanging from it, was discovered about 8:30 a.m. on a ledge in front of the building in the 600 block of North Grand Avenue.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad determined it was not an explosive.
