Senators hand Rangers their seventh straight loss

Ray Emery made 27 saves for his second straight shutout, Daniel Alfredsson scored 32 seconds into the game and host Ottawa extended the New York Rangers’ losing streak to seven games with a 1-0 win.

The Rangers were shut out for the second consecutive game.

New York’s losing streak is its longest since an eight-game skid after the 2004 trading deadline.

Pittsburgh 4, Toronto 1 -- Sergei Gonchar scored the go-ahead goal at Pittsburgh, and the Penguins ended a five-game losing streak.

New Jersey 4, Washington 3 -- Scott Gomez had two goals and an assist at East Rutherford, N.J., for the Devils’ sixth straight win over the Capitals.

Florida 3, Montreal 1 -- Ed Belfour made 32 saves, and Nathan Horton scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period at Sunrise, Fla.

Dallas 4, Nashville 1 -- Antti Miettinen had two power-play goals, and Jere Lehtinen scored the go-ahead goal on a power play at Dallas.

Minnesota 4, Columbus 3 -- Wes Walz scored a controversial goal 1:29 into overtime off a deflection at St. Paul, Minn.

Boston 5, Chicago 3 -- Five players scored at Chicago for the Bruins, who are 5-1-1 in their last seven games.

St. Louis 4, Colorado 2 -- Martin Rucinsky scored two goals and goalie Manny Legace made 30 saves at Denver.
