The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq or who died at a military hospital of their injuries:

Wilson A. Algrim, 21, of Howell, Mich.; private first class, Army National Guard. Algrim was among three guardsmen killed Dec. 23 when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Salman Pak, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment in Big Rapids, Mich.

John Barta, 25, of Corpus Christi, Texas; specialist, Army. Barta was killed Dec. 23 in a mortar attack on his unit in Buhriz, northeast of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Evan A. Bixler, 21, of Racine, Wis.; private, Army. Bixler was killed in combat Dec. 24 during security operations in Hit, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Baumholder, Germany.

John T. Bubeck, 25, of Collegeville, Pa.; sergeant, Army. Bubeck died Tuesday of injuries suffered a day earlier when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. Two other soldiers were killed in the blast Monday. Bubeck was assigned to the 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Hayes Clayton, 29, of Fairburn, Ga.; captain, Army. Clayton was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 842nd Military Training and Transition team, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Michael J. Crutchfield, 21, of Stockton; specialist, Army. Crutchfield died of a noncombat-related injury Dec. 23 in Balad, north of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Jason C. Denfrund, 24, of Cattaraugus, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. Denfrund was killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near his unit while on patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Elias Elias, 27, of Glendora; specialist, Army. Elias was killed Dec. 23 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle while on patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Christopher E. Esckelson, 22, of Vassar, Mich.; corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Esckelson was among three reservists killed in a firefight Thursday in Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Saginaw, Mich.

William C. Koprince Jr., 24, of Lenoir City, Tenn.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Koprince was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near him while on foot patrol in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Clinton T. McCormick, 20, of Jacksonville, Fla.; private, Army. McCormick was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Jacob G. McMillan, 25, of Lafayette, La.; staff sergeant, Army. McMillan was killed Dec. 20 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle and his unit then was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Bobby Mejia II, 20, of Saginaw, Mich.; private, Army National Guard. Mejia was among three guardsmen killed Dec. 23 when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Salman Pak, south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment in Big Rapids, Mich.

Nicholas A. Miller, 20, of Silverwood, Mich.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Miller was among three reservists killed in a firefight Thursday in Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Saginaw, Mich.

Jae S. Moon, 21, of Levittown, Pa.; sergeant, Army. Moon died Monday in Baghdad of injuries suffered Dec. 14 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle while on patrol in Iraq’s capital. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Stephen L. Morris, 21, of Lake Jackson, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Morris was killed Dec. 24 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Andrew H. Nelson, 19, of Saint Johns, Mich.; private first class, Army. Nelson was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. A third soldier injured in the blast died of his injuries the next day. Nelson was assigned to the 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Kyle A. Nolen, 21, of Ennis, Texas; hospitalman, Navy. Nolen was among four troops killed Dec. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to H Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Regimental Combat Team 7, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Forward in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Curtis L. Norris, 28, of Dansville, Mich.; sergeant, Army. Norris was killed Dec. 23 when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 210th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Aaron L. Preston, 29, of Dallas; specialist, Army. Preston was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. A third soldier injured in the blast died of his injuries the next day. Preston was assigned to the 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Joshua M. Schmitz, 21, of Spencer, Wis.; corporal, Marine Corps. Schmitz was killed in combat Tuesday in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Myles C. Sebastien, 21, of Opelousas, La.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Sebastien was killed Dec. 20 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Joshua D. Sheppard, 22, of Quinton, Okla.; specialist, Army. Sheppard was killed Dec. 22 when his patrol unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 642nd Engineer Support Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum, N.Y.

William D. Spencer, 20, of Paris, Tenn.; lance corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Spencer was among three reservists killed in a firefight Thursday in Fallouja, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Nashville.

Joseph A. Strong, 21, of Lebanon, Ind.; specialist, Army. Strong was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when their vehicle overturned in a dirt canal while on patrol south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Fernando S. Tamayo, 19, of Fontana; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Tamayo was among three Marines and a sailor killed Dec. 21 when a roadside bomb exploded near their Humvee in Al Anbar province, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Douglas L. Tinsley, 21, of Chester, S.C.; specialist, Army. Tinsley was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when their vehicle overturned in a dirt canal while on patrol south of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Ft. Richardson, Alaska.

Dexter E. Wheelous, 37, of Winder, Ga.; sergeant first class, Army. Wheelous was one of two soldiers killed Monday when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 842nd Military Training and Transition team, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Eric R. Wilkus, 20, of Hamilton, N.J.; private first class, Army. Wilkus died Monday at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany of a noncombat-related injury suffered Dec. 22 in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 57th Military Police Company, 8th Military Police Brigade at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
