50 Families Homeless After Apartment Fire

Fire swept through a six-story apartment building in the Bronx, injuring 31 firefighters and leaving more than 50 families homeless, fire and Red Cross officials said.
No serious injuries were reported among the tenants, officials said. The injuries to the firefighters ranged from smoke inhalation to “minor bumps, burns and bruises,” said Fire Department spokesman John Criscuoli.
