Defenseman Joe Corvo and forward Alexander Frolov were held out of Monday morning’s skate. Corvo had an MRI exam for a sore knee, and Frolov sat out because of recurring flu symptoms.

Coach Andy Murray said each was expected to play today when the Kings face the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul. Meanwhile, center Pavol Demitra was back on the ice after sitting out Sunday’s practice because of flu.

Murray said he was pleased with the tone of Monday’s workout. “I thought we had a lot of quality today, instead of just quantity,” he said.

Center Craig Conroy expressed disappointment at not having defenseman Aaron Miller along for the Olympics. Miller has back problems.

“I understand what’s going on,” Conroy said of his teammate. “He missed four or five weeks, and coming back for just a few games before going to the Winter Olympics, he could get hurt again. I can see where he feels he owes it to the Kings to not play. It would have been nice just to fly over with him.”

With his back not adequately healed, Miller chose to opt out of the Olympics, not wanting to risk re-injuring it in Turin and missing the rest of the season.

The Kings are not expected to make any player move before Friday, when NHL rosters are frozen for the duration of the Olympics.

“I’m happy with the team I have,” General Manager Dave Taylor said.
