Kim Smith had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Utah defeated No. 18 Brigham Young, 70-52, Wednesday at Provo, Utah. The Utes are 16-5 overall and 7-3 in the Mountain West Conference.

Smith scored seven points in a 14-3 run midway through the first half after the Cougars (19-2, 9-1) had cut the deficit to 38-34.

No. 9 Oklahoma 86, Kansas 57 -- The host Sooners (20-4, 10-0) became the first team to start Big 12 Conference play with 10 wins and dropped the Jayhawks (14-7, 3-7) to 0-5 on the road.

No. 12 Baylor 91, Nebraska 69 -- Sophia Young scored 18 points and the host Bears (17-4, 7-3 Big 12) easily handled the Cornhuskers (12-9, 4-6).

No. 17 DePaul 68, Cincinnati 53 -- Allie Quigley had 18 points for the Blue Demons (19-5, 6-5 Big East) at Chicago to counter Treasure Humphries’ 16 points for the Bearcats (14-7, 4-6).

No. 20 New Mexico 85, Colorado State 51 -- Dionne Marsh scored 21 points and the Lobos (17-6, 7-3) won their 32nd Mountain West conference home game in a row. The Rams are 8-13, 2-8.

Marquette 74, No. 23 St. John’s 59 -- Krystal Ellis scored 24 points at New York and the Golden Eagles (16-6, 7-4 Big East) swept the two-game season series with the Red Storm (18-5, 8-4).

No. 24 Texas A&M; 73, Texas 53 -- The Aggies (18-5, 7-3) used a 28-0 run in the first half at Austin and went on to end a 31-game conference winning streak at home for the Longhorns (12-9, 6-5).
