Classic reggae festival

The annual Ragga Muffins Festival hasn’t restored the “Bob Marley Day” that used to be part of its name, but for its 25th staging the reggae extravaganza has made a concerted move toward the classic roots reggae associated with Marley and away from the contemporary dancehall sound. That means such notable veterans as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Gregory Isaacs and the Wailers, and, on Sunday, one highly anticipated youngster: Matisyahu, the Orthodox Jewish reggae singer who has already built a big following with the mainstream rock audience.

Ragga Muffins Festival, Long Beach Arena, 300 E. Ocean Blvd. Noon Saturday and Sunday. $37 to $55. (562) 436-3636.
