Yoakam burst on the scene like a house on fire with a hillbilly sound that redefined modern country music and an image to match: the tight, silver concho adorned; tattered jeans that fit like a glove; the short, bejeweled bolero jackets; the long Indian-blanket overcoats.

Letter writer -- The first name of a letter writer was misspelled in Thursday’s Calendar Weekend. The author of the letter about Dwight Yoakam wearing Manuel Cuevas’ designs was Michele Greene, not Michelle Greene.

If you knew who Dwight Yoakam was, you knew Manuel’s designs.

More people associate these two artists together than know or care that President Bush may own a jacket or two.

To overlook Mr. Yoakam in your article was an oversight.
