Leaders in Both Parties Call for Lobbying Curbs

New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn proposed restrictions on lobbyists that would limit their ability to raise money and advise political candidates.
Bloomberg, a Republican, and Quinn, a Democrat, said they supported a bill that would ban lobbyist gift-giving, require lobbyists to disclose on the Internet any political consulting and fundraising, and prohibit candidates from getting a public funds match of campaign contributions from lobbyists.
