2002 Champion Ceccarelli Has Edge

Share

Italian Daniela Ceccarelli is the defending Olympic champion and will be the home-country favorite at San Sicario Fraiteve. Croatian Janica Kostelic earned her fourth Olympic gold medal by winning Saturday’s combined but has said she probably will not race in the super-G because of illness she has been fighting for a week. American Lindsey Kildow will ski, despite a rough week that started with her crashing in the downhill Monday.

She finished eighth in Wednesday’s downhill but Friday skied off in the first slalom run of the combined. American Julia Mancuso is looking to move into medal contention after finishing seventh and ninth in the downhill and combined events.
