Fullerton Powers Past UCSB, 73-59

Jermaine Harper scored a season-high 21 points to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 73-59 victory over visiting UC Santa Barbara in Big West Conference play Wednesday.

Jamaal Brown had 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Titans (7-4, 1-1). Bobby Brown, Frank Robinson and John Clemmons also scored 10 points apiece.

Chris Devine scored 19 points and Cecil Brown had 13 points for the Gauchos (5-7, 0-2), who have lost three of their last four games.

Fullerton trailed, 13-10, before using a 33-14 surge to take a 43-27 halftime lead. Bobby Brown scored eight points and Robinson had seven points during the rally.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 66, UC Riverside 55 -- Senior forward Gabe Stephenson scored a game-high 18 points and the Mustangs (4-8) capped a surprising 2-0 start in Big West play with a victory over the Highlanders (1-11, 1-1) at Riverside.

Stephenson made seven of 14 shots from the field as Cal Poly SLO opened up a six-point halftime lead. The Mustangs led by as many as 17 points in the second half.

Cal Poly overwhelmed Riverside by dominating in the front court. Forward Derek Stockalper had 14 points and Tyler McGinn scored 13 as Cal Poly’s post players outscored Riverside’s, 45-17.

UC Davis 66, UC Irvine 63 -- Thomas Juillerat made four free throws in the final minutes to help the Aggies (4-9) hold off the Anteaters (4-8) at Irvine.

Juillerat made two free throws with 2:15 left to give UC Davis its first lead, 60-59, since the opening minute. He made two more with 55 seconds left to make it 64-61.

Irvine got a career-best 17 points from Adam Metelski but could not avoid a fifth consecutive loss. The Anteaters have not won since defeating San Jose State on Dec. 3.
