Detroit Coach Mike Babcock was at a loss to explain his team’s collapse.

“I don’t know what happened,” Babcock said after the Red Wings blew a 3-0 lead in a 6-3 loss to Dallas on Sunday night at Detroit. “We lost our composure and turned the puck over and just couldn’t get settled down again.”

Jere Lehtinen scored two goals, and Niklas Hagman, Philippe Boucher, Niko Kapanen, and Mathias Tjarnqvist also scored for Dallas, which didn’t even get a shot until 6:43 remained in the first period.

Mike Modano and Sergei Zubov each had three assists.

Henrik Zetterberg and Mathieu Schneider each had a goal and an assist, and Jason Williams added a goal for Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk had three assists.

Zetterberg credited the Stars’ comeback to their goaltender change of replacing Marty Turco with Johan Hedberg early in the second period, when it was 3-0.

“They switched goalies and Hedberg came in and played really good,” Zetterberg said. “We had some good chances, and he made the saves.”

Columbus 5, Phoenix 2 -- Bryan Berard scored three power-play goals for his first hat trick, and Sergei Fedorov had four assists at Glendale, Ariz., and the Blue Jackets ended a three-game losing streak.

Ladislav Nagy and Shane Doan scored for Phoenix. The Coyotes have lost three straight games and eight of their last 12.

Nashville 5, Chicago 1 -- Yanic Perreault had two goals, and Steve Sullivan scored on a penalty shot at Chicago to help the Predators hand the Blackhawks their 10th straight loss.

The Blackhawk losing streak is their longest since a team-record 12-game slide at the end of the 1950-51 season. Chicago’s last win was Dec. 16 against St. Louis.

Jerred Smithson and Adam Hall also scored for the Predators, who won for only the second time in their last seven games.

Chicago forward Tuomo Ruutu left the game late in the second period after jamming his right skate against the back of the net. Ruutu, who has sat out 30 games this season because of a sore back, was helped from the ice by teammates.

Florida 4, Washington 3 -- Roberto Luongo made two shootout saves, and Nathan Horton and Joe Nieuwendyk scored shootout goals at Washington.

Olli Jokinen scored twice in regulation and Sean Hill had a goal for the Panthers, who ended a season-long five-game trip with a 2-2-1 record. Florida won its second game at MCI Center this season. Against the rest of the NHL, the Panthers are 3-16-4 on the road.
