North Carolina Wins in a Rout

Erlana Larkins scored 22 points, including a perfect 14 for 14 from the free-throw line, and Ivory Latta had 17 points Wednesday night in No. 4 North Carolina’s 85-56 victory over Georgia Tech at Chapel Hill, N.C.

La’Tangela Atkinson had 10 points with six assists and four steals for North Carolina, 17-0 overall and 4-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, which moved to within one win of matching its best start.

Janie Mitchell and Jill Ingram each scored 12 points to lead Georgia Tech (11-6, 0-4), which lost its fifth in a row.

No. 8 Baylor 60, Texas A&M; 49 -- Sophia Young scored 28 points, and Abiola Wabara had 10 points and 11 rebounds at Waco, Texas.

The Lady Bears (13-2, 3-2 Big 12) scored 15 straight points -- including nine by Young -- to open the second half and take a 40-27 lead with about 15 minutes left.

However, Texas A&M; (14-4, 3-2) responded with an 11-0 run to cut the margin to 40-38 on a layup by Takia Starks with 10:27 remaining.

Baylor then scored seven consecutive points, and the Aggies didn’t get closer than nine points the rest of the way.

No. 17 Oklahoma 63, Texas Tech 57 -- Freshman center Courtney Paris had her 10th consecutive double-double, finishing with 17 points and 19 rebounds at Norman, Okla., and the Sooners remained the Big 12’s only unbeaten team in conference play.

Texas Tech (7-8, 2-2) was without Coach Marsha Sharp, who was briefly hospitalized earlier in the day after showing flu symptoms during a shoot-around at Lloyd Noble Center.

Alesha Robertson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Raiders, who cut a 13-point second-half deficit to one point midway through the half before Oklahoma (14-4, 4-0) pulled away again.

No. 23 Brigham Young 60, Wyoming 44 -- Ambrosia Anderson scored 14 points to lead the Cougars in a Mountain West game at Laramie, Wyo. BYU (13-1, 4-0) held Wyoming (12-4, 2-3) to a season-low 21.6% shooting from the field.
