Southwest Airlines Co. increased its highest one-way ticket price by $10 for the second time this year as the carrier raised the estimate of what it would spend for jet fuel.

AMR Corp.’s American Airlines, UAL Corp.’s United Airlines, Delta Air Lines Inc., Continental Airlines Inc., Northwest Airlines Corp., US Airways Group Inc. and AirTran Holdings Inc.’s AirTran Airways matched the increase on trips of more than 1,000 miles, as well as a $3 one-way boost for flights of 751 to 1,000 miles.

Dallas-based Southwest said it now expected to pay $800 million, or 60%, more for fuel this year than in 2005.
