Streak Is Over for Peterson
Ron Peterson’s 11-race winning streak in the super-trucks division ended Saturday night when he finished second to rookie Matthew Hicks of Santee, Calif., at Irwindale Speedway.
Peterson, who is from Riverside, started and finished third in the 40-lap race, and another rookie, Brian Reed of Castaic, was second.
“That’s why they call them streaks; they’re bound to come to an end sooner or later,” Peterson said.
Travis Thirkettle bolstered his lead in the late-model series with his sixth win of the year.
After starting fourth in the 28-car field, the Newhall driver quickly moved past pole-sitter Austin Grabowski of Upland and never relinquished the lead.
Greg Crutcher of Covina won the super stocks race, Connor Cantrell of Valencia won the legends class and Ryan Black of Alta Loma won his second straight West Coast pro truck race.
