Teacher Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Porn

A physical education teacher and former high school football coach pleaded guilty Friday to possession of child pornography, including pictures depicting preteens in sadistic and masochistic poses.
Michael John Smerdon, 41, could receive 10 years in prison when sentenced Sept. 5 in federal court.
Smerdon, now on administrative leave from a teaching job in Chula Vista, was a football coach at Clairemont High and at Montgomery High in Otay Mesa.
