Pipe Bomb Thrown Into Bedroom Injures Deputy

A bomb exploded in the bedroom of a Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy, injuring him and spewing debris 50 feet outside the house. The apparent pipe bomb crashed through the window of the courtroom bailiff’s home early Friday.
Officials said he had not received any job-related threats. Neighborhood residents said the crime could be related to tensions between drug dealers and young families and professionals who have moved into the area.
