TOGO VS. SWITZERLAND

Group G, at Dortmund, 6 a.m. PDT, ESPN2, Ch. 34

With an average age of 25.8 and 25.9, respectively, Switzerland and Togo are the second- and third-youngest teams at the World Cup. Switzerland looked good on defense in its first game, a 0-0 draw with France, and might have won with some luck. Coach Jakob Kuhn says his goal is to guide his youthful team to its peak in two years’ time, when the Swiss are co-hosts of the UEFA European Championship in 2008. Togo is hurt by the loss of defender Jean-Paul Abalo, who received a red card in a 2-1 loss to South Korea. This will be the first meeting between the countries.

SAUDI ARABIA vs. UKRAINE

Group H, at Hamburg, 9 a.m. PDT, ESPN2, Ch. 34

Heading to what looked like an easy victory over Tunisia, Saudi Arabia played sloppily and had to settle for a point. But after a poor showing in the 2002 World Cup, even a point was something to celebrate. Ukraine breezed through a tough qualifying campaign en route to its first World Cup, then was embarrassed, 4-0, by group-favorite Spain. However, Ukraine still has a chance to advance to the final 16 if it can defeat Saudi Arabia and Spain defeats Tunisia. This will be the first meeting between the countries.

SPAIN VS. TUNISIA

Group H, at Stuttgart, noon PDT, ESPN2, Ch. 34

Spain usually has trouble in its opening World Cup match, so the impressive 4-0 victory over Ukraine was uplifting but could lead to overconfidence. After taking and then relinquishing the lead in its opening game against Saudi Arabia, Tunisia managed to snatch a 2-2 draw thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Radhi Jaidi. That point could prove vital to Tunisia’s chances of reaching the final 16. This is the first meeting between the countries.
