Away from the posse

YOU might say Constance Zimmer is the Eagle Rock of actresses. Since moving there several years ago, both she and the city have risen to quasi-hip status, cemented in Zimmer’s case by her recurring role as Warner Bros. executive Dana Gordon opposite Jeremy Piven in the inside-Hollywood hit “Entourage,” just into its third season on HBO.

Community dining

On a Friday night, I like to go out with friends to Cobras & Matadors, the one in Los Feliz. It’s fun to order different things and then sample each other’s plates, and the wine is good and so is the vibe. Very laid-back, like somewhere in Europe. The lentils fried in a skillet are unbelievably good, and I love to have the French toast for dessert.

I might walk to the Vermont restaurant and sit at an outside table and order mojitos. But the long inside room is nice and friendly too, with the DJ spinning and everything totally unpretentious.

Time with Oprah

On a Saturday morning I’ll make myself a green tea latte and then sit out on my deck and catch up on my reading -- the newspaper, Travel and Leisure, Real Simple and Oprah. I love the articles in Oprah. Then I’ll go clip some roses and bring them inside for the week, and then meet friends at Doughboys for a bite to eat. I like the flaxseed blueberry pancakes even for lunch, and also a veggie sandwich there called the Works. Then I’ll get the red velvet cake for dessert. As you can see, overeating can be a problem at Doughboys, but I walk it off.

I like to go shopping around 3rd Street, the shops are just great -- Polkadots and Moonbeams, Hillary Rush, Terra. Then I’d go to the Vista or the Los Feliz Theater to see a movie. I hate the Grove. It feels like Disneyland to me, and I’m not one for big crowds.

I’d come back home to Eagle Rock and go to the Colorado Wine Co., where they do these great wine tastings with a little cheese and crackers. I can walk there from my house.

After that, I’d go someplace I used to eat at even before I moved to Eagle Rock -- Casa Bianca. I’d have the pizza with tomatoes, fried eggplant, garlic and onions. But only if my boyfriend wasn’t there with me that night. My breath would be too much for him. Then I’d go to the Chalet for drinks, a great Eagle Rock bar that looks like a little lodge, with leather booths and a jukebox. Really cool.

Take a hike

On Sunday morning I’d start out at Swork, my local coffee shop, and order a Mexican chocolate mocha coffee, which is crazy-rich but unbelievably good. I’d hang out there for a while and then go hiking up in Chantry Flats, which has one of the best trails in Southern California. It takes me about two hours to go on my route, and then I’d come back home and go to this great vegan drive-through in Pasadena, Orean’s Health Express. They have natural cokes, and soy everything. They bake their French fries. I might get a fake-chicken burger and soy milkshake. I take crazy meat-eaters to Orean and even they love it.
