Kidnapping Suspect Is Arrested in Mexico
Riverside County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Canyon Lake man Friday in Ensenada, Mexico, on suspicion of kidnapping his former girlfriend and burning her boyfriend’s Canyon Lake home Jan. 26.
Richard Eric Gurzi, 37, was charged with arson, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, stealing a vehicle and burglary after being apprehended with the help of Mexican authorities and the FBI, officials said.
Gurzi’s former girlfriend, Stephanie Creech, 31, was found in La Jolla and appeared to be unharmed, said her mother, Donna Salerno, 58, of Menifee.
