Fugitive Gunman Suspected in New Attack -- on Wife
A man suspected in the wounding of a Glendora police officer last month shot his estranged wife eight times in a busy San Dimas intersection Friday, leaving her in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities have been searching for Frank Fidel Beltran, 36, of La Verne since Feb. 10, when he shot a Glendora police officer in a hand, said Sgt. David Vega of the San Dimas station. Beltran remained at large Friday.
Driving a tan four-door Chevy Cavalier, Beltran followed his estranged wife through the intersection of Arrow Highway and Lone Hill Avenue, Vega said.
“She noticed him and tried to get away,” he said. “He chased her down after she crashed into a curb and started blasting her.”
After firing at least 20 shots, Beltran fled, Vega said.
Beltran is described as Latino, about 5 feet 7 and 155 pounds, with tattoos on his arms. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Dimas sheriff’s station at (909) 599-1261.
