Anearlyfil Coming On Late

Share

After losing 23 of the first 24 starts of her career, Anearlyfil has suddenly become a victory machine.

The 5-year-old Score Early mare has won two in a row and three of her last four and will try to continue the streak for a new stable when she faces seven other fillies and mares in the sixth race today at Santa Anita.

Anearlyfil will debut for trainer Vladimir Cerin, who claimed the California bred for a partnership out of her latest victory against $12,500 claimers on Feb. 16.

Successful against $8,000 and $10,000 claimers in the first two wins in her current roll, Anearlyfil will step up to the $20,000 level this afternoon in the 6 1/2 -furlong race.

Jon Court was the jockey in her last two victories for former owner Bill Thomas and trainer Mel Stute. But in today’s race apprentice Saul Arias, who has had a knack for winning on longshots during the meet, has the call against Impressive Flight, Bronze Glow, Kouri Jill, Worksformoney (who is also trained by Cerin), Yummy Yummy, The Dempsey Look and Newyearresolution.

Race of the day: Interior Designer will seek his fourth win in a row on Aqueduct’s inner track in today’s eighth, a race that is part of a pick six with a carry-over of $38,968. Owned by Ernie Paragallo’s Paraneck Stable and trained by Jennifer Pedersen, the 4-year-old Adonis gelding hasn’t gotten much respect from bettors during his streak. He was almost 24-1 when he beat maidens Dec. 30, 5-1 when he won an allowance race on Jan. 12, then 14-1 when he won an optional claimer on Feb. 16. Apprentice Kyle Kaenel keeps the mount in the $46,000 allowance at one mile.

One for the road: Full In gets a significant barn change to trainer Mike Mitchell after being claimed and should show big improvement in the sixth race at Gulfstream Park today. There’s also a pivotal jockey switch to John Velazquez and the 3-year-old Snuck In gelding can get his first win on turf in the $40,000 claimer at 1 1/16 miles.

Exotically speaking: A place pick all using Splashof Panache in the first, Pathbreaking in the second, Winnin N Grinnin and Pirate’s Plunder in the third, Rathsallagh and Royal Prana in the fourth, Walking Solo in the fifth, Kouri Jill and Yummy Yummy in the sixth, Cotorra and Da Svedonya in the seventh and Heirloom Rose in the eighth.

Winners: (previous day/meet total): 3/154. Money: (previous day/meet total): $18.80/$936. Total money bet: $880.
