Cambiocorsa Likes Grass

Share

Cambiocorsa will try to remain unbeaten on Santa Anita’s turf course when she takes on six other California breds in the $125,000 Irish O’Brien today.

Owned by Lee and Ty Leatherman and trained by Doug O’Neill, Cambiocorsa is winless in five starts at Del Mar and Hollywood Park, but she is perfect in Arcadia.

A gray daughter of Avenue Of Flags, the 4-year-old filly broke her maiden at the about-6 1/2 -furlong distance last April 15, won an optional claimer by 2 1/2 lengths on Nov. 3 and has won her first three starts of the current winter-spring meet.

None of her rivals has ever won on the layout and only two have victories on the grass.

Race of the day: Harbor Master, who has run well in his first two starts on the Gulfstream Park turf course, will face tougher company as he tries for his second victory of the meet in the eighth race today. Chris DeCarlo, who was aloft when the 4-year-old Seattle Slew colt went wire-to-wire Feb. 16, has the call again today for Overbrook Farm and trainer Todd Pletcher in the $37,000 allowance at one mile.

One for the road: Garbu Road was visually impressive breaking his maiden Feb. 17 and can come right back in the seventh race today at Oaklawn Park. Robby Albarado, who rode the gelding when he won at 16-1 last month, will be aboard again this afternoon in the $34,700 optional claimer at six furlongs.

Exotically speaking: A place pick all using the Argentina entry in the first, Scadu and Low Creek in the second, Cambiocorsa in the third, Rivera and Isomoto in the fourth, Impressive Flight and One Fourteen in the fifth, Sizzling Fargo and Last Lobo in the sixth, Fly To The Wire in the seventh and Foster and Kingofthenight in the eighth.

Winners: (previous day/meet total): 4/171. Money: (previous day/meet total): $19.60/$1,028.60. Total money bet: $998.
