Share

The last time Master David won a race was when he defeated Borrego, Preachinatthebar and others in the 2004 Sham Stakes at Santa Anita.

The 5-year-old son of Grand Slam will try to end his extended losing streak when he takes on five others in a $56,000 allowance today at Santa Anita. The race at 1 1/16 miles is the seventh on the card and part of a pick six with a carry-over of $121,516.

Owned by a partnership that includes Georgica Stable and trained by Bobby Frankel, Master David was fifth at 9--2 odds at this distance and level on Jan. 14, then finished ninth of 12 when switched to the turf on Feb. 20.

The field is completed by Patriot’s Pass, who hasn’t won since July 11, 2004, Devil’s Bay, County, Capitao Risso and Carano.

Owned by breeders Al and Sandee Kirkwood and trained by Craig Lewis, Carano, a full brother to Valentine Dancer, will be making his first start since he finished seventh in the California Cup Classic last Nov. 6.

Race of the day: Spooky Mulder, an 8-year-old gelded son of Brunswick, will try for his 24th lifetime win when he breaks from the outside post in a field of seven in the eighth race at Aqueduct. Owned by Ben Mondello and Bruce Golden and trained by Scott Lake, Spooky Mulder, who has won three of seven over Aqueduct’s inner track, will be ridden by Eibar Coa in the $49,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.

Jeremy Rose will be aboard the 5-year-old Double Honor mare for owner H. Neil Glasser in the $32,000 claimer at 5 1/2 furlongs. Code Of Justice has won 15 of 35.
